Visit the beautiful pleasure palace Chinese Pavilion, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located in the idyllic gardens of Drottningholm Palace. Inspired by the Chinese style, chinoiserie, which was very popular of European rococo interiors of the time, King Adolf Fredrik built the Chinese Pavilion in 1753 as a surprise to Lovisa Ulrika for her birthday.
Two new wings were added over time, one called Silver Chamber and the other one The Billiard, because of the large exclusive pool table that stood in the room, as well as a new dining room named Confidensen, to host fine dinner parties. Today you can also visit the Adolf Fredriks Ateljé room and the old kitchen, which today serves as a cosy café.
Audio guides are available at the pavilion.
