Explore the amazing array of objects: musical instruments, stage costumes and set design models, as well as some 20 interactive stations where you can explore your own creativity. Scenkonstmuseet is a truly unique attraction for theatre, music and dance lovers and offers of all ages.

Break out your old mix tapes or swing your way to melodic bliss. SOUND CHECK is an interactive and noisy exhibition that will turn the visitors into musicians and music producers – regardless of prior knowledge. Come play with us!

Main exhibition: ON STAGE
Step into the world of theatre, dance and music - in front, as well as behind the scenes. We present historical and contemporary highlights from the diverse fields that constitute Swedish performing arts. Explore the legacy of Swedish champions such as Ingmar Bergman, Anneli Alhanko, Swedish House Mafia, Gunilla Palmstierna Weiss, Strindberg and Robyn. Or explore your own creativity through our interactive stations.

  • Got a thing for opera? Check out our showcase about the original staging of a Swedish classic - Aniara from 1959.

Did you know:

  • The museum is situated in Stockholms oldest industrial building – Kronobageriet. Before it was turned into a museum in the 1970s it served as a bakery for over 300 years. Hence the characteristic shutters on the windows, which originally served as vents.
  • The museum also houses the Music hall of Fame.
