If you’re in Stockholm for longer, make a day trip out of the city to visit the Ulriksdal Palace and Orangery Museum, a stunning example of 17th century style and architecture. The Ulriksdal Palace is situated just by the Edsviken lake in the National City Park and was first named Jacobsdal after the first owner, the warlord Jacob De la Gardie, until it got renamed Ulriksdal Palace by the Queen Hedvig Eleonora at the end of the 1600s. Those who inhabited the palace ever since then have influenced the style and interior of the Palace with their unique tastes in décor.
A pleasure garden was built for Queen Kristina but it was Hedvig Eleonora who built the beautiful Orangery. Here, you can see the magnificent sculptures by famous Swedish artists like Carl Milles and Johan Tobias Sergel. Set mong the fantastic grounds of the palace park which is also open to the public, enjoy the beautiful view over the lake you can even bring your own picnic, too!
